The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% & Alpha Arbutin 2% Serum Review

I've heard of The Ordinary skincare brand (founded in 2016) for awhile now, and even been inside a few of their stores. However, I was so absorbed with Asian brands that I never thought to purchase The Ordinary when choosing my next skincare product.

Until this week! I found their Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% serum on sale at Ulta for $5 (50% off of yellow stickers!), so I bought a bottle to try (even though I already had a serum 😅)

Innisfree Jeju Pomegranate Serum Review

I was on the look-out for a new serum, since my previous one (Enzo Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Skin Revitalizer Serum) was running-out.

I often shop Marshalls/TJ Maxx (aka Marmaxx) for discounted skincare, because they usually have cheap Asian skincare products.

I wasn't looking to purchase this specific serum, however, this 3 pack of Innisfree Jeju Pomegranate Revitalizing Serum was discounted to $19, so I couldn't resist!

Innisfree is a well-known Korean brand, which is why I bought these serums without doing any skin testing or review reading.  I did check the expiration year, which is 2023, so it'll last!

I paid ~$20 after tax for three 50 ml bottles, which is a steal for ~$7/bottle! As skincare lovers know, most big name Korean serums retail for double digits.

The bottle is a bright red, and the scent is not overpowering. I may gift a bottle to my mum or sis for Christmas or Chinese New Year!

UPDATE: I've been using it for a couple weeks now and haven't broken out. It's viscous and absorbs quickly, so I feel my skin is hydrated.  Time will tell if it improves skin’s elasticity, clarity and wrinkles.

Serum Battle!

e.l.f. versus Beauty Dreams Paris

Both serums were bought at a discount.

My sister** didn't like either serums, so I'm giving them a try since I finished up The Biossance Revitalizer.

I like the Vitamin C serum over the Soothing serum because it smells better, absorbs faster, and felt more refreshing, which is perfect for the summer heat.

**(Yoshi): e.l.f. is my go-to when trying new products for make-up, so I figured their praised skincare products would be a dream! Unfortunately this serum made my skin bumpy and slightly inflamed... Ceased use after two morning applications :(
